In the heart of Manhattan, a refined atmosphere and gracious service rank The St. Regis New York among the top hotels. In 2007 it received the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award and AAA Five Diamond Award for the 14th consecutive year.
It has a perfect position at 5th Avenue 55th Street which allows you to be out of the hussel and bussel, but within walking distance to central park and shopping centre.
From the moment the bellman opens the car door to the morning you leave, the staff at the St. Regis is gracious, efficient, welcoming and discreet; they were never intrusive, rushed, overly-friendly. Luggage, dinner reservations, check-in and -out, breakfast in the room and cars to the airport will all handled with a smooth efficiency by a very well-trained staff that works well together. The moment you enter the lobby, it is like being transformed into a whole new world of old world charm and luxury.
An impeccable staff, including the incomparable butler service, prides itself in far exceeding expectations. Dine and entertain in Astor Court and King Cole Bar and Lounge, or host a gathering in one of our 15 perfectly appointed function rooms.
Silk wall coverings and antiques personalize spacious accommodations while butlers provide unsurpassed service. The 164 guest rooms and 65 suites feature custom-made furnishings, deeply carved crown moldings and wainscoting, and marble baths.
The property is more than just well-maintained - everything from the marble floor in the lobby to the gorgeous flower arrangements where they're sort of famous for those is either brand new or lovingly-maintained.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are really terrific. They are comfortably sized (not excessive in square footage), elegant and tastefully decorated in traditional style, high ceilings, perfect/plenty of lighting, flat panel TV. The comfort level of the beds and linens and all other amenities is unmatched, the beds are like "sleeping in a cloud." Butler and room service are both prompt and high quality. There is a room control system (for lighting, radio, heat level etc) attached to the bedside telephone. The bathroom products are from the Remede spa downstairs and are probably as good as you can get in a hotel bathroom.
The bathroom is large, and though it has no tub, the shower head is just amazing - where you can stay for hours. Counter space would probably be an issue if you have a lot of your own toiletries and store makeup/toiletry bags on the counter. The towels and bathrobes are so so soft.
The Executive Suite is huge, very traditionally decorated, quiet and comfortable. Great bathroom, fabulous shower and with even a fireplace in the suite. You will have a 24 hour butler service, which is amazing, fresh coffee in the am, complimentary ironing, polish your shoes and will make reservation for dinner, assigned to you
Room service breakfast as a litmus test of sorts for hotels: The St. Regis surely pass this test, the food will beautifully presented, freshly-prepared and exactly what you order with really fresh-squeezed tasting orange juice
Turndown service includes a fresh bucket of ice, 2 robes, 2 sets of surprisingly comfortable slippers, fresh fruit, curtains pulled, lights dimmed, and nice classical music set.
You must take advantage of the complimentary tea service in the mornings. Bone china served on a silver tray, delivered with 3 newspapers. you will love the honey flavored swizzle sticks they send along instead of sugar. Seriously nice touch.
The "Oriental Suite" which is about 1,700 square feet, 2 bathrooms is just gorgous.
The restaurants in the St Regis are wonderful already though, Alain Ducasse is a wonderful experience for a nice dinner and the Astor Court for afternoon tea or breakfast is the best place in the city. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel also. The Remede Spa is fantastic, the treatments (like facial and massage) are customized for you and a 60 minute massage is heaven.
There are also excellent meeting rooms in the basement.
In short, the St. Regis is a beautiful old hotel that lives up to the promise of elegance, refinement and luxury.
